The only destination here with real conference infrastructure

If a programme has genuine working content, this is where it belongs. Da Nang has purpose-built function space, direct international flights and a heritage town forty minutes away for the evening. It is also less of a beach destination than the photography suggests.

What it does well

  • Conferences that need to work. Purpose-built function space, multiple parallel breakout rooms, reliable connectivity and AV suppliers who have done it before. This is the only destination in our coverage where a 200-delegate conference with four parallel streams is straightforward rather than heroic.
  • Access. An international airport with direct regional routes, and a domestic network that makes staged arrivals manageable. For a group assembling from several countries this matters more than anything on the ground.
  • Hoi An. Forty minutes away, and it does something Da Nang cannot — a heritage evening in a lantern-lit old town. Used as an evening element rather than a base, it lifts an ordinary conference programme substantially.
  • Depth of supply. More properties, more venues, more crew. When something has to change at forty-eight hours' notice, this is the destination where an alternative exists.
  • Group ceiling. About 300, the highest in our coverage, and reachable without splitting across properties.

What it does badly

  • The beach season is narrower than the marketing implies. Da Nang faces east into the sea, and the northeast monsoon from roughly October to January brings rough water and grey skies. A beach gala in November is a different proposition from a beach gala in May, and any supplier who does not raise this is not paying attention.
  • October to December carries flooding risk. Central Vietnam's rain season is real and occasionally severe. Programmes in this window need a contracted indoor alternative and a realistic conversation with the client about it.
  • It is a city, not a resort island. A group that wanted containment and isolation will find Da Nang busier and more ordinary than they imagined. For an incentive whose point is escape, Phu Quoc or Ha Long Bay does it better.
  • Hoi An logistics need care. The old town is pedestrianised, coaches park at a distance, and moving 200 people through it in the evening takes planning. It is worth doing and it is not simply a transfer.
The two-destination question

Partners regularly ask whether to base a group in Hoi An instead. For programmes with working content the answer is almost always no — the function space is in Da Nang. Use Hoi An for one evening and, at most, one night.

Common questions

Questions partners ask most

What is the largest conference Da Nang can hold?

In a single property with breakouts, comfortably 300 and more in a small number of venues. Above that it becomes a venue-selection exercise rather than a destination question, and we would want a site inspection before quoting.

Should the group stay in Da Nang or Hoi An?

Da Nang, with Hoi An as an evening. The function space, the airport and the property depth are all in Da Nang. Basing a working programme in Hoi An trades all three for atmosphere.

Is October really that bad?

It is the highest-risk month of the year in central Vietnam and we would rather move a programme than take it in October without a contracted alternative. The rates reflect the risk; so should the client conversation.

Can we combine Da Nang with Ha Long Bay?

Yes, and it is the strongest two-destination pairing in our coverage — working content in Da Nang, the incentive evening on the bay. Budget an internal flight and half a day.
